Concerns have been raised over Ikea's plans for a click-and-collect service in a busy city car park.

Earlier this month, Ikea submitted proposals to turn the middle level of Churchill Square Car Park in Brighton into a collection hub for people to pick up their online orders.

In the plans, SRA Architects Ltd, speaking for IKEA, said this would provide a "convenient option for collecting goods purchased online without the need to enter the IKEA store".

However, the company also said this would reduce the number of car parking spaces in the multi-storey by 66.

Since the plans were submitted, people living in the city have shown concerns over the plans, which they believe could add to the existing traffic problems.

Janet Rae said: "More chaos."

Another resident Jo Bryan said: "Sounds like a nightmare in the making."

Some people also said the idea was good however it would be better suited somewhere else.

Jon Pamplin said: "Wrong place, bad car parking charge plus extremely congested traffic, build it out of town for free parking."

Despite these objections, the plans have pleased some people.

Darren Armitage said: "This will be great, no more driving up to Croydon."

The plans have not yet been approved by Brighton and Hove City Council.
