A bar which recently opened is hoping to bring "island vibes" to the city.

The Tiki Hut in High Street, Kemp Town, Brighton, opened on June 7 after a huge refurbishment of the venue.

The bar is owned by Jamaican-born owners Shaun Nelson and his wife Celia Nelson and business partner Cinzia Vitale, who want to bring a slice of the Caribbean to the area.

The bar has been recently renovated inside and outside, with an outside terrace and garden area for customers to use all year round.

As well as cocktails, wines and beer, the bar also serves authentic Caribbean food including jerk chicken, jerk pork and coconut shrimp.

Other menu items include a jerk chicken burger, a Caribbean-infused burger and steak.

On Sundays, the bar offers both traditional and Caribbean-infused roast dinners.

A barbecue is also held in the garden over the weekends by staff who cook jerk chicken for customers.

A spokesman for the Tiki Hut said: "We are happy to share this new location with the whole of Brighton especially those looking for a place to enjoy authentic Caribbean Food and just a happy place to hang out with friends, enjoy delicious cocktails, beers, wine and music.

"The tiki theme was chosen to bring some island vibes to Brighton.

"We may not have sun every day but you can still enjoy laid-back island vibes to help reminisce about sunny days, and look forward to your next holiday.

"The outside area has always been a selling point of the venue, except now not only can you sit and watch the world go by, but also enjoy delicious Caribbean fusion food such as jerk chicken, rice, peas and plantain.

"Everything is cooked fresh in-house from the newly appointed kitchen, apart from at weekends when you can smell the BBQ all the way down the street. "

Despite being open less than a month, the owners aim to host happy hours, quiz nights and lunchtime deals.

The venue, which is available for private hire, also has a sound system and an in-house event planner.
