A nursery where parents want their children to "stay forever" has been rated outstanding in its first ever Ofsted inspection.

Bloomsbury Street Day Nursery in Bloomsbury Street, Brighton, was praised by inspectors for providing top-quality care and education.

In the report, inspectors said that children settle "exceptionally well" and "make excellent bonds with staff".

The report also praised the way children are taught sign language constantly, including the youngest children who can make the sign for washing hands and then receive support to use the sink.

Ofsted also reported that the children at the nursery are taught to be independent from an early age, enabling them to learn how to do certain activities themselves.

The children are also guided well by staff who are described as "very nurturing" and show great kindness to the children.

The report read: "The manager is extremely focused on ensuring that children are at the heart of everything they do and that they are the "beat that runs through the nursery".

"Staff show an excellent commitment and dedication to making a difference in supporting children and their families. They are extremely reflective and are constantly seeking ways to improve and grow as a setting."

The report also noted that children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are supported extremely well.

Ofsted said that staff receive support from the special educational needs coordinator and are given plenty of training to help them seek additional support and funding for children.

The inspectors said this enables all the children to flourish and make the best possible progress.

The nursery staff were also praised for having strong partnerships with parents and other people involved in the children's care and education.

The report read: "Parents completely value staff's support and guidance about child development and feel completely involved in their children's time at the setting.

"They comment that they wish their children could remain at the setting forever.

"Staff continually share children's learning so that parents can seamlessly continue this at home. Leaders and staff work ceaselessly with parents to enable children to thrive."

A spokesman for Hove Village, the owners of the nursery, said: "We are absolutely thrilled to share the wonderful news that Bloomsbury Street Day Nursery has been awarded an outstanding rating by Ofsted.

"This prestigious recognition reflects the dedication, passion, and hard work of our amazing team, who go above and beyond every day to create a nurturing, stimulating, and safe environment for our little ones to learn and grow.
