A woman has decorated all of the post boxes in Woodingdean, with the latest adornment commemorating the D-Day anniversary.

Caroline Reilly, from Woodingdean, has been making post box toppers for the last six months.

In that time, she has crocheted and knitted 29 themed toppers to brighten up the post boxes.

Caroline, 66, said: “It started off with my sister asking me to do one for Christmas and everybody enjoyed them so much that I decided to decorate the rest.

“It was meant to be just one and then I joined a post box group and thought I can do this too.

“I really do it to make people smile, to give them something to brighten their day.”

Caroline’s creations have been centred around various themes such as Valentines Day, Easter, and New Years Eve, with other more random decorations being based on residents in the community.

Caroline, who has lived in Woodingdean all her life, said: “I make whatever comes to me in the morning.

“People's responses were so overwhelming so I thought let's do another one.”

Her most recent project has been a topper to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings.

The topper is red, white and blue and covered in poppies, with a cross reading "lest we forget" and a silhouette of a soldier on top.
