With Brighton Fringe, the festival and all sorts of events last month, the city – and county – was alive with the buzz of “performance”, our competition theme.
We received a brilliant range of images from our camera club members across Sussex who took the theme in their stride, capturing magical moments from live shows and dramatic scenes in nature.
As ever, it was tough to pick just a few runners-up and crown one snapper the winner.
We loved Leah Parkes’s shot from the Lady Boys of Bangkok, a staple in Brighton with its vibrant pink big top in Victoria Gardens. The performer’s glittering costume caught the light and sparkled gloriously.
Joanna Kaczorowska cleverly took the theme out into nature with her fabulous snap of galloping horses at Cissbury Ring.
Another brilliant shot was Kevin Brighton’s of a show at the open air theatre in Dyke Road Park in Hove. It really captured the drama of performance.
Emma Crosby scores double points with her entry Hush Beats Disco of silent disco dancers on the sand during low tide at Brighton beach.
And Jan Budgen and Yvonne Kinasz both snapped great pictures of Leonardslee illuminated.
But it was Stuart Carden’s atmospheric photograph of a Madness tribute band called the Los Palmas 6 at Steyning Festival last weekend that takes the £50 prize.
This month’s theme is “al fresco” – send us anything that fits in this theme, taken in Sussex.
Post your entry on The Argus Camera Club Facebook page, mentioning where it was taken. It is one entry per person and the deadline is midnight on June 30. As always, the winner will receive a £50 prize. Good luck.
