Plans have been submitted to turn grade II listed offices into flats.

The offices, which are in a townhouse opposite the Royal Pavilion in Pavilion Parade, Brighton, have been used by solicitors for almost two centuries until 2022.

The space was marketed for business use since but has had no interest.

If the proposals, which were put forward by Lewis and Co Planning SE Ltd on behalf of Connaught House (Marine Parade) Ltd in May, are approved, the offices will be turned into six one-bedroom flats.

There will be one flat per floor of the townhouse.

The plans also propose for the internal walls, which were put up in the 1970s, to be removed, which Lewis and Co Planning said would be a "heritage gain".

They also said the offices would contribute to the city's housing need.

A representative for Lewis and Co Planning SE Ltd, acting on behalf of Connaught House (Marine Parade) Ltd, said: "The six new dwellings will make a valuable contribution to local housing supply at a time of housing shortage.

"Good-quality flats that provide space standards compliant layouts whilst respecting the historic fabric of the building will be created."

The council will decide whether to approve the plans by July 24.
