A museum has closed for restoration.

The owners of the Old Police Cells museum under Brighton Town Hall have locked the doors "until further notice" while refurbishment takes place.

The cells were once used by the police, who used Brighton Town Hall as their base between 1832 and 1967.

Then the cells were used as storage until plans were made in 2004 to turn them  into an attraction.

Policing artefacts and uniforms are also on display along with a model of the IRA's Grand hotel bombing.

It is anticipated that it will reopen in 2025. A spokesman for the museum said: "It is not goodbye for ever, but just goodbye for now."
