Circus performers took to the seafront to wow beachgoers on a sunny afternoon ahead of a landmark show this week.
Artistes from Carnesky’s Showwomxn Sideshow Spectacular paraded through Brighton to show off talents including contortionism, whip cracking and hula hooping.
The circus is preparing to take part in the single largest gathering of female and non-binary performers in the UK over the bank holiday weekend.
Passersby on Brighton seafront were also treated to a display from a contemporary clown as well as Bollywood performers.
Carnesky’s Showomxn Sideshow Spectacular will take over Elder Place off London Road in Brighton as part of a weekend of performances on Saturday and Sunday.
The performers will take over the street for 14 performances as part of the Brighton Festival, which is currently taking place.
The show will be made up entirely of female and non-binary performers and aims to “celebrate the forgotten women of circus and the city’s history of seaside variety”.
