A car which crashed through a level crossing before making off from police has been found.
The road near Berwick railway station, near Polegate, and the level crossing were closed yesterday afternoon after a blue Alfa Romeo crashed into barriers during a Sussex Police chase.
The car, which is believed to have been stolen and on cloned plates, was found by officers in Horam and is being investigated.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "A vehicle – a blue Alfa Romeo Stelvio V6 – was being pursued northbound by police as it was believed to be stolen and on cloned plates.
"Following the collision, it made off from the scene without stopping, and it was later located abandoned in Paynsbridge Way, Horam. The vehicle has since been recovered for forensic examination."
The road has since re-opened.
Sussex Police continue to appeal for witnesses.
Anyone with any information about the incident, including any dash cam or CCTV, is asked to report it online or call 101, quoting serial 481 of 16/05.
