Schoolchildren threw seed bombs on green spaces to support a campaign against lawn mowing.
Youngsters from Willingdon Primary School in Eastbourne threw the wildflower seed bombs at a new housing estate, Meadowburne Place.
They were joining in housebuilder David Wilson Homes' support for the No Mow May campaign.
It is organised by Plantlife and urges people to avoid using their lawnmowers for the month to allow spring plants and wildflowers to grow.
Children from different year groups at the school learned about local wildlife and the role of pollinator plants in providing nectar and shelter for insects such as bees and butterflies.
Gemma Roxburgh, headteacher at Willingdon Primary School, said: “It is so important for them to understand the role we play in protecting our environment and local wildlife and they enjoyed having the opportunity to play a hands-on role by throwing the wildflower seeds themselves. We’re looking forward to seeing the flowers in bloom and will make sure to come and visit."
