The Brighton Pier Group, which runs the pier, has cited rising costs as the reason for the admission fee. 

Here's everything you need to know about the new fee.

How much is it?

The admission fee will be £1.

Who has to pay?

Only people who do not have a BN postcode have to pay to enter. People with a BN postcode will be granted free access with a resident's card.

When will it come into place?

The admission fee will come into place on May 25 and is in place for all of half term week until June 2. 

It will then be in place all weekends in June and the entirety of July and August.

How do I get a resident's card?

People with a BN postcode can apply for a resident's card by filling in a form online at https://www.brightonpier.co.uk/resident-card-form. Proof of address includes a current UK driving licence or utility bills issued within the last three months. The resident's card will be ready for collection in two days from the security office which sits at the right hand side of the main gates. You must bring evidence of your address when you collect the card.

How do I buy a ticket?

You will be able to buy a ticket on the forecourt at the front of the pier. Large groups are advised to contact info@brightonpalacepier.co.uk. 

Do I have to pay for readmission on the day?

Tickets last the full day. Anyone who returns on the same day can present their ticket for readmission.

Why is the fee being introduced?

In the last five years, the cost of maintaining, repairing and operating Brighton Palace Pier has increased 31 per cent, an additional £2.7 million, taking the overall annual cost to £11.6 million.

The admission fee will be critical in helping to meet the unique challenges and costs of preserving the pier’s structural integrity and fabric as well as continuing to remain open all year round, the Brighton Pier Group (BPG), which runs Brighton Palace Pier said.
