A Hollywood actor has been spotted filming in a city centre cafe.
Doctor Who star Matt Smith has been in Brighton for his role in a new Sky Atlantic series based on a Nick Cave novel.
Belchers Cafe in Montpelier Road, Brighton, has become the set for filming today with crews setting up cameras and equipment this morning.
Smith was seen sitting in the cafe staring out of the the window as he filmed scenes for The Death Of Bunny Munro.
Belchers is the backdrop for scenes in the TV adaptation of musician Nick Cave's novel with Smith starring in the titular role.
Filming vans and equipment lined the street this morning with Montpelier Road and Sillwood Street closed off to traffic.
The Death Of Bunny Munro will air on Sky Atlantic.
Speaking about the production, The Crown star Smith said: “To work alongside Nick Cave on The Death Of Bunny Munro feels like a great honour.
“It’s a brilliant exploration of love, grief and chaos. At its heart a deep, difficult, and tender story about a father and son, coping with loss and change.”
The book was published in 2009 and was the second novel by Cave, who has lived in Brighton for many years.
It is about a door-to-door salesman as he comes to terms with parenting after his wife's suicide.
A synopsis for the six-episode show based on the book says: “Following his wife Libby’s suicide, sex addict, door-to-door beauty product salesman and self-professed lothario Bunny Munro finds himself saddled with a young son and only a loose concept of parenting.
“Together with nine-year-old Bunny Junior he embarks on an epic and increasingly out-of-control road trip across Southern England as the two struggle to contain their grief in very different ways.”
Smith, who also stars in Game of Thrones spin-off House of the Dragon, will also produce the series alongside the Bad Seeds musician.
A release date for the project has yet to be announced.
Most recently, Cave helped to score new Amy Winehouse biopic Back To Black, which stars Brighton’s Marisa Abela as the singer.
The Death Of Bunny Munro is the latest high-profile filming project to shoot in Brighton this year after ITV’s adaptation of Grace returned to begin its fifth series.
