A new street-food market will open near the city centre.
Brighton and Hove City Council approved the plans on Tuesday to turn a former "eyesore" car rental facility into a social food and drink space in Trafalgar Street, Brighton.
The venue will become Beak Social Club Ltd and will host three pop-up kitchens and a coffee stand.
The central area of the building will have various seating options for customers along with a small bar area.

Whaleback Planning and Design, who represent Beak Social Club Ltd, said that the kitchen spaces inside the market will be given to independent food businesses to trade from.
Beak Brewery, a reputable brewery founded in Lewes, will manage the food market and social space.
Beak Social Club Ltd said: "The proposal will retain, convert and improve the existing building to provide a street-food market serving locally sourced food and drink.
"The kitchens and coffee shop will provide low-rent spaces allowing for local independent businesses to thrive in a central and highly sought-after location.
"The site will also create 13 jobs in a vacant and previously underutilised building.
"Furthermore, the proposal seeks to provide a hub for the local community with display areas for local artists and opportunities to host events for community interest groups."
Whaleback Planning and Design also said that the new market would help the surrounding area's "footfall".
The planners also said that the new look of the existing building, which has been empty for over a year, would add "vibrancy" to the street.
A spokesman for Whaleback Planning and Design said: "Overall, the proposed redevelopment will inject significant investment into the site, create affordable business units for local food traders, improve the aesthetic of the existing building, attract interest and footfall onto Trafalgar Street and complement the character and nature of the wider North Laine Conservation Area.
The council said that the new market will be allowed to open within the hours of 9am until 11.30pm from Monday to Sunday, including bank holidays.
It is not known when work on the site will begin.
