A bar venue with a dance floor could be converted into flats.

Plans submitted to Hastings Borough Council by Pump House Designs, on behalf of the applicant, propose for the former Crowley's bar in Havelock Road, Hastings to be turned into housing.

If approved, the ground floor bar area would become a commercial unit and the first-floor space, which was used as a dance floor with its very own stage, would form two separate flats.

These would each have one bedroom, an open-plan kitchen and living room area and bathroom facilities.

Residents would also have access to a shared bike storage space, however there would be no outdoor area for them to use.

According to the plans, the building first opened as the Old Golden Cross public house in 1857.

It was most recently Crowley's Bar before it closed last year, and has been left vacant since.

The Victorian building, which is four storeys high, has also been described as being of "historical significance", however the developers have said this will not be impacted as no external changes will be needed. 

The council will decide whether to approve the plans by June 7.
