Recovery is underway after severe floods saw people evacuated from their homes in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
A number of residents in Littlehampton along Rope Walk and Ferry Road were taken to a rest centre after the River Arun burst its banks.
Arun District Council has said that a recovery operation to clean up the area and "rectify" the issues is now underway, however people affected by the floods are still unable to get into their homes.
They are being supported by the council, with four families currently living in emergency accommodation.

A spokesman for Arun District Council said on Wednesday afternoon: "Following the flooding in Littlehampton we are now looking at the recovery of the area. We are working with agencies to discuss the next steps with a particular focus on Rope Walk / Ferry Road.
"Those evacuated from affected locations remain so and have been provided with all necessary support until they can return to their premises while work to rectify issues continues.
"Winds are expected to continue to calm over the coming days and tide heights are set to reduce which should lead to more settled conditions, aiding the recovery process.
"We plan to host a drop-in for residents and businesses locally, together with other agencies, as soon as possible."
Power supply was returned to the area on Wednesday evening however both roads remain closed to allow for recovery operations to take place.
The council also said that it is "putting together a plan" to clear the shingle washed up on the promenades.
Recovery operations are also believed to be underway in Earnley where Medmerry Holiday Park flooded.
Over 180 people were evacuated from the holiday homes where water was reported to be "chest-deep" in some places.
Among those rescued were dogs, cats and a tortoise.
Shoreham also suffered flooding on the A259 near the High Street.
Three Sixty Fitness gym was closed after flood water caused damage to the ground floor of the property in Brighton Road.
It is yet to reopen.
