A weather warning for strong winds has been updated with gusts of up to 65mph expected to batter the coast this evening.
The Met Office warning for wind was issued for the Sussex coast with disruption forecast as far north as Steyning and Battle.
The warning was issued last night but has been updated this morning. Winds expected to be stronger and to hit the coast earlier.
Met Office experts say that Brighton and Sussex will now be hit with average wind speeds between 45 and 55mph.
The wind was originally due to hit Sussex at around 1am on Tuesday morning but will now buffet the county at 9pm this evening.

The high winds are expected to end at around 9am on Tuesday morning.
A spokeswoman for the national weather service said: "Strong winds are likely to bring hazardous coastal conditions and could cause some inland disruption.

"It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves."
Motorists are told to expect delays, as are rail passengers.
Short-term losses of power are possible.
