Residents have shared their bewilderment at an unusual item on sale in a charity shop.
The “creepy doll in stick cage” is more than a metre tall and was up for grabs for £100 at the YMCA charity shop in Blatchington Road, Hove.
Rebecca Jayne spotted the item in the store and shared a picture of it to Facebook.
The post garnered hundreds of comments discussing what it is and many were repulsed by it.
Zoe McBride said: “This is f***ing horrendous”
Stephanie Coulter said: “Is the skull at the top some kind of ritual? Is the person inside cursed? Can we buy it and set her free to see what happens?”
Others were shocked at the £100 price tag.
Anna Fox said: "It’s not worth a hundred pounds.”
Matthew Braggs added: “£100 seems too much.”
People were also curious about where the doll came from.
Kitty Dobson said: “This is 100 per cent from the massive job lot that was doing the rounds after the TV show Britannia ended and all the props ended up on the south coast in various charity shop.”
Daniella Vine, said: “Everyone is hating on this but I genuinely think this a really beautiful piece of art, it’s not for everyone no, but the time and effort that would have gone into weaving this and the details are amazing”
Sarah Aplin said: “Oh, if only I had the space and the moneys. This is a bespoke handmade prop so not overpriced at all.”
Staff at the YMCA in Hove told The Argus they “didn’t know anything about it”.
“It sold quickly,” said a member of staff at the store.
The Argus understands the item was put out on the shop floor on Thursday and was sold on Friday.
