Brighton fans were all smiles on a long weekend away at Liverpool in spite of defeat.
The Seagulls were off to a great start when Danny Welbeck scored inside two minutes at Anfield.
But Liverpool were strong and Luis Diaz and Mo Salah scored either side of half-time to get their team a 2-1 win.
Roberto De Zerbi made two changes to the team that beat Nottingham Forest in March with Tariq Lamptey and Welbeck returning to the starting XI.
Salah had 12 attempts on goal, his most in a Premier League match and the most on record by a Liverpool player in the competition.
It was also the most by any player in the top flight since Zlatan Ibrahimovic against Burnley more than seven years ago.
But there was plenty of good defending by the Seagulls as they attempted to interrupt the Liverpool title charge.
