Breakfast is considered the most important meal of the day, but where are the best spots for it in Brighton and Hove?

We asked The Argus readers on Facebook what they thought were the best places for breakfast in the area.

Haylea's Cafe

Address: Moulsecoomb Way, Brighton and Hove, Brighton BN2 4PD

Haylea's Cafe on Moulsecoomb Way received a few nominations on the Facebook post, with it earning praise for its food, drinks and staff.

One person wrote: "Hayley’s [sic] all day long food is amazing and cafe is always clean the staff are brilliant."

On its Facebook page, it says: "We are a family-run cafe selling good quality English breakfasts as well as your usual cafe favourites."

Oeuf

Address: 8 Third Ave, Brighton and Hove, Hove BN3 2PX

Oeuf in Hove was mentioned by a few readers as being a great place for breakfast, with one describing it as "the best by far".

Options for breakfast include Oeuf Florentine, The English and Hashinator.

On their website, it says: "With ample seating in our cosy restaurant come for a candle-lit breakfast off the beaten track.

"Friendly service accompanied with locally sourced food all enjoyed in amongst a setting of grandeur."

Wheelies Cafe

Wheelies Cafe on Victoria Road was commended by a few readers for its helpful staff and great food.

One person wrote: "Wheelies Cafe hands down definitely the best cafe around and the staff are so lovely."

Another shared: "Wheelies love em thé staff our kind and helpful."

Known for their hearty fry-ups and their Truckload Challenge, this cafe is probably a good option if you like decent portion sizes.

Mange Tout

Mange Tout received several favourable recommendations from a few readers on the Facebook post.

On its website, it says: "Mange Tout opened its doors in 2009 and has become one Brighton’s favourite independent Bistros. Offering a fresh, quality-focused menu backed up by locally roasted coffee, sustainably sourced tea and natural wines."

There are various options for breakfast/brunch including omelettes, muffins, croque monsieur and their own versions of a fry-up.

Another place that is considered great for breakfast on Trafalgar Street is Kitchen Cafe, with a few readers recommending it.

One described it as "definitely up the in the top 3" for the area.
