Police remained at a block of flats yesterday after the discovery of an elderly man’s body sparked a murder investigation.
A 72-year-old man was found dead inside the block of flats in Worthing on Friday evening with officers on the scene throughout Saturday.
A 46-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remained in custody yesterday afternoon.
A Sussex Police spokesman said that officers were called to St Botolph’s Road in Worthing at around 6.30pm on Friday evening where they found the man’s body in a residential block of flats.
Officers are now appealing for information after the 46-year-old from Crawley was arrested on suspicion of murder.
Sussex Police Detective Chief Inspector Craig Emmerson said police will remain in the area of Aspen Court, where the man's body was found.
He said: “We have launched a murder investigation, and our thoughts are with the man’s family at this extremely difficult time.
“We are extremely keen to speak with anyone with information about what happened.
"There will be an increased police presence in the area to provide reassurance to anyone who is concerned about this incident.”

Sussex Police officers are expected to remain on the scene this morning.
