The coastguard team, who attended shortly before 3am, assessed and monitored the casualty.
They worked to keep him warm until the ambulance arrived.
A spokesman for Selsey Coastguard Rescue Team said: "Once paramedics and the ambulance were on scene we worked together as a team to best care for and move the patient from the beach and into the ambulance.
"The casualty was then taken to the hospital and the team was able to stand down and return to station.
"The team wish the casualty a speedy recovery."
The coastguard team returned to the station at 5.35am and urged the public to dial the coastguard on 999 in any seaside emergencies.
