A woman who was hit by a car remains in a critical condition following a crash earlier this week.
The 77-year-old woman remains in hospital after being airlifted from the scene of a crash in Chichester Road in Bersted near Bognor on Tuesday.
She had been hit by a green Skoda Octavia and was airlifted to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton where she remains.
Sussex Police say they have since arrested a man but he has been released on police bail.
A police spokesman said: “A 53-year-old local man, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has since been released on police bail whilst inquiries continue.
“Anyone who witnessed the collision or has any dash-cam footage is asked to contact collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk quoting Operation Kinsale.”
Chichester Road was closed and cordoned off for most of the day but was re-opened in the evening.
