A person has been taken to hospital after an incident at a harbour.
There were seven police cars, coastguard crews and a lifeboat at the scene after reports of a person in difficulty in the water near the Shoreham Harbour western arm at around 4pm yesterday.
A coastguard spokeswoman said: "HM Coastguard responded to an incident in the Shoreham harbour area yesterday, March 17.
"Alerted just after 4pm, Coastguard Rescue Teams from Shoreham and Littlehampton and an inshore lifeboat from Shoreham RNLI were sent to the scene."
A spokesman for Shoreham RNLI confirmed that its inshore lifeboat was launched.
He added: "Our crew helped with the evacuation of the casualty who was taken to hospital.
"Please call 999 and ask for the coastguard if you see someone in distress in or near the water."
