A member of the public found the fox and handed him into a vets practice before he was handed to the East Sussex Wildlife Rescue and Ambulance Service last Saturday.
A spokesman for the rescue service said: "Our first fox cub of the season has arrived today having been found alone and calling in a shed and handed into a vets practice.
"Just 109g and with some little sores to the paws and rear legs, this little one will now remain with us for treatment and hand rearing.
"He is no doubt the first of many."
In photographs shared by the animal rescue charity, the cub can be seen curling up to a teddy bear on a blanket.
It is not known why he was found alone and separated from his mother.
