The slowest roads in the city have been revealed.
Data from the Department for Transport shows the A roads in Brighton and Hove where drivers face the longest delays.
The statistics show that the A2010, which includes West Street, Queen’s Road and Buckingham Place in Brighton is the slowest road in the city.
Motorists on the road were held up an average of 257.6 seconds, or more than four minutes, for every mile they travelled on the road in 2023.
In second place is the A2023 which is made up of Sackville Road and Nevill Road in Hove.
Last year, drivers faced more than three minutes of delays for every mile travelled on the A2023.
The remaining A roads where motorists face long delays are:
- A270, encompassing the Old Shoreham Road and Lewes Road, delays of 131.1 seconds of delays per mile travelled
- A23, London Road, 109 seconds of delays per mile travelled
- A2038, King George VI Avenue and Hangleton Road, 95.9 seconds of delays per mile travelled
- A293, Hangleton Link Road, 85 seconds of delays per mile travelled
- A259, along the seafront, 80.2 seconds of delays per mile travelled
Every A road in the city saw average delays increase from the previous year.
Motorists in Brighton and Hove also face particularly long delays as every A road in the city has longer delays than the average across the UK.
