The A27 remains closed for a second day after "foul water" flooded the carriageway.
Part of the main road is still closed heading eastbound as one lane of the road is submerged in water.
National Highways say they are working with Southern Water to clear the road and re-open the A27 but said it would remain closed into peak travel periods this morning.
A spokesman for the agency said on X: "The A27 remains closed eastbound between the A285 at Portfield Roundabout and Boxgrove Roundabout due to flooding of the carriageway with foul water.
"The closure will be in place throughout the morning whilst we work alongside Southern Water to clear the water."

The A27 was first partially closed near Chichester yesterday morning and remained shut throughout the day and into the evening.
Large amounts of water have submerged one lane of the eastbound carriageway.
National Highways say a diversion route has been put in place along the A285 and through Westhampnett and Thalnaker.
