Colin Firth's "wet shirt" from Pride And Prejudice has sold for thousands at auction.
The costume from Firth's breakout role as Mr Darcy went for £20,000 at a sale of dozens of famous Hollywood pieces.
Hundreds of thousands of pounds were raised for arts charity The Bright Foundation at the auction which took place yesterday.
The shirt, worn by Firth in the BBC adaptation of Jane Austen's novel, more than doubled its expected price of £10,000. It is not known who the buyer was.
The most expensive lot of the auction, held at Kerry Taylor Auctioneers in London on Tuesday, was a pink Christian Dior ball gown worn by Madonna in her role as Eva Peron in Evita. The dress sold for £40,000.
All the lots at the auction sold for a total of £285,300.
Money raised from the auction will benefit Hastings charity The Bright Foundation who provide arts education.
The charity was set up by Oscar-winning costume designer John Bright, who designed most of the costumes on display, and counts Meryl Streep among its ambassadors.
Bright said: “My life’s work has been committed to costume design for film, TV and theatre and I feel incredibly fortunate to have been able to pursue this path.
“It is my firmly held belief that the arts and creativity can shape happier and healthier children and enable young people to reach their full potential.”
