Preparation work has begun at a new Sainsbury’s store in the city.
An initial planning application for a Sainsbury’s Local store at 100 to 104 Church Road, in Hove, was withdrawn after people raised concerns about noise and deliveries.
But a new application promising that products would not be delivered to the back of the store was subsequently given the green light in August last year.
Now, orange hoarding has been put up in the windows and it is expected that work will begin shortly on transforming the building into a new store.

It will be the 12th Sainsbury’s branch in Brighton and Hove.
The site has been empty since September 2022. It was previously Organic Earth, and before that Four Seasons which took over from Cullens.
The Argus asked Sainsbury’s when the new store will open and how many jobs it will create, however the brand said it did not have the information we requested.
