The trial for a boy accused of murdering a 17-year-old boy in the city centre will start today.

Mustafa Momand was stabbed to death in Queen’s Road, Brighton, in broad daylight.

People tried to save Mr Momand at the scene but the teenager later died at the Royal Sussex County Hospital following the attack on October 5 last year.

The 16-year-old, from Southwick, was arrested later that day following a city-wide police manhunt.

Nathan Rasiah KC, prosecuting, said the trial at Brighton Magistrates’ Court is expected to last for around two weeks.
