Residents have shared their anger after several cars in a street were kicked in.
Lucas Gil, who lives in St George’s Terrace, Kemp Town, Brighton, woke up on Saturday morning to find several cars parked on his road had been damaged.
He told The Argus: “It’s an awful thing that you cannot even leave your car safe in front of your house. Just when people bounced back from Christmas, here’s another expense.
“I guess Gorilla tape will have to do for now.”
A number of cars had their wing mirrors broken off and some had boot imprints, suggesting they had been kicked.
“We went door to door and left notes on the affected cars to contact the police if anyone has seen anything,” Lucas said.
He posted the images on Facebook where other nearby residents shared their dismay.
Catherine Winters, from Brighton, said: “What is wrong with some people?”
Em Fell, also from Brighton, said: “Oh gosh, so sorry to see this and for all those who that's going to have an impact on financially.”
Another resident, called Candida Facer, said this was another incident in a spate of violence in the area.
“Last week it was cars along the seafront at Crescent Mews,” Candida said.
Around ten cars along the street were tampered with.
Lucas said the police gave him the following information: “Please contact 101 quoting 47240027270 if you’re affected or a witness, or if you have any footage of the crime.”
A spokeswoman for Sussex Police said: "At about 10.20am on Saturday, 10 February, police received a report of criminal damage to a car in St George’s Terrace, Brighton, believed to have taken place in the early hours of the morning.
"The wing mirror had been broken and the caller also reported that other cars in the street had been damaged.
"If you have any information or doorbell footage relating to the criminal damage, report to police online or via 101 quoting 418 of 10/12."
