Four Sussex restaurants have been included among the UK's Top 100 Restaurants for 2024 in the annual list from SquareMeal.

Furna, The Little Fish Market and The Set in Brighton plus The Pass at South Lodge in Horsham were the county's representatives.

Discussing the creation of the list SquareMeal wrote: "Each of the top 100 results are a unique combination of our own in-house critic-led opinions and thousands of diner votes.

"It’s this dual approach that makes our list incomparable, representing not only our professional opinion but thousands of real-life experiences that help to reinforce and bolster our final decisions."

What did SquareMeal say about the Sussex restaurants?

The Pass at South Lodge in Horsham was the highest-ranked of the Sussex restaurants on the Top 100 list, being placed in 9th.

Discussing the restaurant SquareMeal wrote: "Ben Wilkinson’s Michelin-starred restaurant is nothing short of sublime.

"A glass wall separates the 28-cover dining room from the kitchen, so diners can watch the team in action, while dishes are served by the chefs who made them. Clean, concise, and perfectly balanced plates are impossible to fault."

On Tripadvisor, it has a 4/5 rating from 54 reviews.

Next up is Furna, which was ranked 23rd, and described as arguably "Brighton’s most notable fine dining restaurant".

SquareMeal added: "The menu takes notes from Asian cooking but is ever-evolving depending on the season."

On Tripadvisor, Furna has a rating of 5/5 from 26 reviews.

Following that is The Little Fish Market on Upper Market Street in Brighton which was in 87th place on the list.

Discussing the restaurant SquareMeal wrote: "A small, 20-cover restaurant that proves good things come in small packages.

"The Little Fish Market serves a tasting menu focused solely around fresh fish and seafood, created by the ever-talented Duncan Ray."

Finally, there is The Set on Preston Road in Brighton which was ranked in 90th spot, and has earned a score of 4.5/5 on Tripadvisor from 707 reviews.

The website wrote of it: "Dan Kenny is blazing his own trail in Brighton, cooking up audacious tasting menus packed with bold, Asian-flecked umami flavours.

"There’s only one menu to choose from, but Kenny’s food is some of the most inventive, daring food in the country right now."

One reviewer on Tripadvisor wrote of The Set: "One of the best meals I have ever had. At the end of the meal we spent 20 min trying to work out the best dish with the consensus that they were too good to decide."
