A jury has failed to reach a verdict in the trial of a man accused of stabbing another.
William Miller, 35, of Whitehawk Close, Brighton, denied grievous bodily harm with intent against Ryan Greer following an incident last summer.
A retrial will take place. A provisional date has been set for March 4 and the court is yet to be decided.
Emergency services were called to Whitehawk Close on July 14 last year where a man was taken to hospital.
A cordon was in place all afternoon following the incident at around 12.30pm.
There were evidence markers along the road and a discarded towel was left at the junction.
Witnesses told The Argus last year that Mr Greer was found lying in the road. They put him in the recovery position and phoned 999.
Sussex Police said people could expect to see an increased presence while they investigated.
