Rye has been named as the best staycation destination in the South East.
Research by outdoor experts at Go Outdoors ranked it one of the UK’s top holiday hotspots and the best in the South East.
Rye scored highly for its number of bike trails for visitors.
However, it missed out on a place in the top three to Betws-y-coed in Wales, Ambleside in the Lake District and the market town of St Ives in Cambridgeshire.

- Braemar, Aberdeenshire
Brighton also featured in the study as one of the UK’s most sought-after holiday destinations, placing sixth with more than 63,000 annual holiday searches.
The city missed out on a place among the top three to the Isle of Wight, the Isles of Scilly in Cornwall and St Ives in Cambridgeshire.
