Hastings has been named the best place in the South of England to retire to.
It was commended for the cost of homes in the area and its low crime rate as well as its proximity to parks and essential facilities.
Looking at government and NHS data, among other sources, Hastings was ranked the sixth best place to retire to in the UK.
Research by insurance company Howdens found that house prices, averaging at just over £260,000, were among the lowest in the area.

The town also has a high wellbeing rating compared to other areas of the country.
Pendle in Lancashire was rated as the best place to retire to in the country.
A spokesman for Howden’s Insurance said: “As a result of the ongoing cost of living crisis, every possible expense has gone up.
“Thankfully, this study offers a valuable resource for those planning to retire in 2024, highlighting the areas of the UK that can offer people the best value for their money.”
