Progress is being made on repairs to an entertainment centre which was damaged during a blaze at a Harvester next door.
The Windmill Entertainment Centre in Windmill Road, Littlehampton, has been closed for months after a large fire in the restaurant on August 10 last year.
The cinema and theatre building was damaged by smoke and the water firefighters used to put out the blaze.
Asbestos was removed from the building last year and now the internal work by Arun District Council contractors is complete.
But, while this work was being done, a leak was found above the boiler room which is now being repaired.
Council contractors are now starting work on the outside of the centre.
The Windmill Entertainment Centre is run by Freedom Leisure, which is also carrying out repairs to the inside of the building.
A spokeswoman for Arun District Council said: “We are pleased to bring an update on the work taking place at the Windmill Entertainment Centre.
“Freedom Leisure contractors are also continuing and are on schedule. The new studio floor is due to be installed next week and replacement carpet for the auditorium has been measured, sourced, and ordered. The Freedom Leisure team are working closely with their contractors and are confident in their timelines.
“Progress is on schedule, and we remain confident of a spring reopening.”
