Five restaurants from across the city have been shortlisted for this year’s Deliveroo Restaurant Awards.

These celebrate the best restaurants across the country, from independent burger joints to neighbourhood sushi restaurants and all the dishes and flavours in between.

Five restaurants in Brighton have been shortlisted for a range of accolades in the South England and Wales region, including best pizza and best Thai.

Two of the city’s highly-rated pizza restaurants, Fatto a Mano and Very Italian Pizza in Old Steine, will face off against each other in the best pizza category.

Opened in 2015, Fatto a Mano has three branches across Brighton and Hove and serves authentic and affordable Neapolitan pizza with dough made fresh every day using the best Italian ingredients.

Very Italian Pizza, listed as a Travellers’ Choice on Tripadvisor last year, is a family run-business spanning five generations, establishing the first shop in Naples in 1845. All the produce comes directly from the mother country, giving their pizzas a unique taste.

Among the other categories, The Chilli Pickle in Jubilee Street has been shortlisted for the best Indian and Nepalese award, Lemongrass in Church Road, Hove, is nominated for the best Thai award, and The Bok Shop in East Street for the best chicken award.

TV star and “takeaway aficionado” Rylan has been enlisted to judge the Beating Heart of the Community award.

Rylan said: “As a takeaway connoisseur and one of Deliveroo’s most loyal customers, I’m so excited to be involved in the 2024 Restaurant Awards.

“It’s no secret I love a cheeky takeaway, so I can’t wait to join the judging panel and help choose the deserving winner of the Beating Heart of the Community category.”

Voting is now open until January 21 and can be cast on deliveroorestaurantawards.com. Voters will be entered into a prize draw to win £500 in Deliveroo credit.
