A man has been arrested after a couple reported being followed in their car and rammed by another vehicle.
The couple said they were followed by a grey Volkswagen Polo which repeatedly hit their blue Peugeot as they travelled through Rustington.
After pulling over the couple say that a man got out of the pursuing car and hit their vehicle on two occasions.
The man and woman were first followed from Station Road through to Abbotswood, during which their car was repeatedly rammed.
Both vehicles pulled over in Abbotswood, where the man left the pursuing vehicle and struck the couple's car, before they fled the scene.
They were pursued again before stopping in Seafield Road, where the man once again got out and struck their car. The victims were then able to escape and call police.
A 33-year-old man from Littlehampton was arrested on suspicion of stalking and driving a motor vehicle dangerously.
Detective Inspector Ali Hutchings said: “This was a prolonged incident over a fairly large area that is likely to have been witnessed by a significant number of people.
