A new Changing Places accessible toilet block could be built in one of the city’s best-loved parks.
Changing Places toilets are larger than most accessible facilities with purpose-built equipment, including a changing bench and a hoist.
And while St Ann’s Well Gardens, in Hove, already has a disabled toilet, Brighton and Hove City Council wants to build a new block that would far better suit the needs of those who need it.
“The proposal will enhance the park’s accessibility for people in the community with profound disabilities, who may have otherwise been unable to visit due to the lack of space and specialist equipment for their toilet and changing needs.

“It will increase Brighton’s inclusivity to residents and visitors. The new proposal allows more people, the users with disabilities, their carers and families, to experience the health and other wellbeing benefits that the parks and gardens have provided throughout its interesting history.”
The new block would be 4.7m by 6.2m, roughly 4m in height, and built on a patch of grass opposite the current public toilets.
The city council said the building can be removed in one piece if it no longer required.
