Despite the festivities, with its dark days and cold weather, December can be a difficult month.
But our intrepid camera club members did not let it stop them getting out and capturing some brilliant snaps of Sussex.
As we revealed yesterday in our yearly roundup, the winner for our theme of “ice” was Kevin Brighton with his colourful shot of ice on a window.
The vibrant sky shone through in his clever snap – Kevin wins £50.
But we couldn’t let the month go by without commending our brilliant runners-up.
Philip Carter’s snap of a fish pond in Rudgwick, near Horsham, captured a real winter wonderland. The beautiful clear blue sky framed the landscape of frosty trees and the iced over pond.
We loved Danka Kazmierczak's shot of bright red berries in the first frost of the winter. The close-up of the ice on the berries at Devil’s Dyke feels festive.

Another close-up we liked was Angela Lambert’s detailed picture of ice bubbles in Newhaven. The different shapes and sizes of bubbles and their almost geometric patterns are fascinating.
There were a few freezing days at the start of December where it felt like the sun never really rose.
Iain Barron caught one of those days well – with hazy skies and frosty grass in Stanmer Park.
Well done to all our runners up and thank you to everyone who took part in 2023.
The January theme is “something beginning with an A”. Post your entry on The Argus Camera Club Facebook page, mentioning where it was taken.
It is one entry per person and the deadline is midnight on January 31. As always, the winner will receive a £50 prize. Good luck.
