Two boys have been arrested after fighting broke out in the city’s main shopping centre.

There was an altercation at JD Sports inside Churchill Square Shopping Centre, Brighton, at around 3pm on Thursday, December 14.

Two boys, a 14-year-old from Telscombe Cliffs and 16-year-old from Eastbourne, have been arrested on suspicion of affray and remain in police custody.

Videos posted online showed damage to the inside of the sports shop, as well as fighting between two people.

In one video seen by The Argus, one person grabs a fire extinguisher before a security guard takes it off him.

Another video shows a teenage boy being detained by security staff.

Three boys and a man were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Sussex Police said they are working to locate other people involved in the incident.

Chief Inspector Andrew Saville said: “Violence and anti-social behaviour such as this is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

“We are aware that a video of the incident is circulating on social media and we ask the public to refrain from any speculation as this could undermine the ongoing investigation.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information which could help police with their enquiries, can report online or by calling 101 quoting reference 757 of 14/12.”
