A new pizza place is already attracting large queues of hungry customers.
Yeastie Boys Pizza Club launched its newest site in Hove last week and has already proven to be a hit with locals who have been enjoying pizzas by the slice.
The site in George Street is the company’s third with locations already at the New Amsterdam pub in High Street, Worthing, and Brunswick Road in Shoreham.
Currently, customers can order a pizza slice, quarters and full 20in pizzas at the shop’s hatch, as well as coffee from Black Mocha Brighton and doughnuts from Cat Burglar Dough Co.
People can expect twists on classic combinations and “funky” flavours on a Neapolitan/New York-style hybrid dough, which is made in-house.
Owner Oliver Hill said plans are in the works to extend the shop’s opening hours and to open the entire site as a restaurant with a bar and outdoor seating.
He says the launch has gone very well so far.
“It’s been really busy,” he said. “It’s been so good.
“I wanted to serve pizza by the slice, especially with the cost of living.
“Some people can’t really afford a whole pizza.
“We keep the slices as big as possible for the price, I’ve got a big family and I hate when I see a family not able to enjoy something due to the price.
“I like the idea of slices so kids can be full for £3.
“I made so many good memories that are food-related growing up, so I want to pass that on.
“That’s why I also love the sharing aspect of a 20-inch pizza.”
The 29-year-old, who lives in Shoreham, had no previous experience in hospitality but wanted to “give it a go” and taught himself how to make pizza from Youtube videos.
The business has a team of 11 including Oliver’s partner Harriet Walker, who has a background in the industry.
Oliver has big ambitions for the company, which only launched in July.
He would like to expand across the country and has his sights set on opening a shop in the Lanes in Brighton in the “next few months”.
And the businessman has been working with his Hove head chef Tommy Davidson-Leech on a range of new specials and menus.
“We’re working together to make some crazy pizza options,” said Oliver.
“We want people to try something a bit different.”
