More than 20,000 speeding fines were handed out in Sussex in the last year.
Information released by Sussex Police revealed that fines worth over £2 million were issued to motorists on the county’s roads between November 2022 and 2023.
The Freedom of Information request by PersonalInjuryClaimsUK.org.uk found that on average around 56 speeding fines were handed out each day.
Sussex Police data shows that 20,549 fixed penalty notices were handed out from November 2022 to 2023.

Based on fines of £100 the total cost of the fines is estimated to be worth £2,054,900.
The number is thousands more than some other forces in the country. A Freedom of Information request found that just 871 fines were issued in Wiltshire in comparison.
Speeding fines cost £100 with offences also incurring three penalties on their driving licences.
Offending motorists can alternatively opt for a speed awareness course.
