Two Labour councillors have been banned from meetings until the outcome of an investigation.
Brighton and Hove City councillors Bharti Gajjar, for Kemp Town, and Chandni Mistry for Queen’s Park ward are currently under investigation.
The reason for the investigation has not yet been revealed.
Cllrs Gajjar and Mistry have been removed from their positions on outside bodies, committees and lead member roles until the investigation is complete.
They have also been banned from Labour group meetings.
It means Cllr Gajjar will halt her work on the Brighton and Hove legacy fund, the East Sussex pension board or the standing advisory council for religious education.
Cllr Mistry, who was last month shortlisted for young councillor of the year at the annual council awards, will be unable to return to her positions on the members advisory group on grants or Youthwise, the council’s youth advisory board, until the investigation is complete.
Brighton and Hove Labour chief whip Cllr Amanda Grimshaw said: “Pending the outcome of an investigation by the Labour Party, Cllr Gajjar and Cllr Mistry have been removed from their positions on outside bodies, committees and lead member roles until the investigation is complete. They are also currently not permitted to attend Labour group meetings.”
