A 68-year-old man was taken to hospital with a serious injury after being attacked.
The man was assaulted in Terminus Road, Littlehampton, shortly before midnight last night.
He was taken to hospital with a serious head injury, where he remains.
The attacker, a man about 6’ tall and wearing dark clothing, fled the scene in the direction of Albert Road.
Police are looking to speak to witnesses of the incident, which happened at 11.54pm yesterday.
Anyone who saw what happened or captured any relevant mobile, CCTV or dash cam footage, is urged to report it to police online or by calling 101, quoting 47230231568.
