The roof of a building was destroyed in a fire.
Six fire engines attended the blaze in St Mark’s Close in Bexhill late last night.
Residents were advised by East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service to avoid the area and keep windows and doors shut.
Sussex Police also attended and the road was closed while emergency services brought the fire under control.
Shortly after midnight, around an hour after the fire service first attended, the incident was scaled down to one fire engine and an aerial ladder platform.
