A man has been arrested after a video of someone abusing a dog went viral on social media.
Footage from a doorbell camera shows the man pushing the animal up against a brick wall.
The Argus understands the incident took place in Moulsecoomb around 9.30am yesterday.
A 38-year-old man from Brighton has been arrested on suspicion of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “We are aware of a video circulating of a man harming a dog in Brighton today.
“A 38-year-old man from Brighton has been arrested on suspicion of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.
“We are taking this matter seriously and ask the public to refrain from any speculation as this could undermine the ongoing investigation.
”The RSPCA has been informed and is supporting our enquiries.”
