A man is in hospital with serious injuries after he was assaulted.
The 64-year-old was taken to hospital after a "disturbance" in Brunswick Place, Hove at around 7.25am today.
Forensic officers are currently at the scene and a police tent and cordon are up on the pavement in the street.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "Police received a report of a disturbance at Brunswick Place, Hove, at about 7.25am on Wednesday, November 8.
"A 64-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains.
"A vehicle failed to stop for police and left the scene. The vehicle was stopped in St Martin’s Place, Brighton, and has been secured by police.
"Three men were detained in the Kemp Town area soon afterwards and were arrested on suspicion of assault. They remain in custody at this stage."
Police believe this was an isolated incident, that does not pose a wider threat to the public.
