Experts will clamber up the UK’s tallest living Christmas tree this week to make the final touches ahead of its light switch on.
Wakehurst’s tree team will make the final checks to the 1,800 energy-saving bulbs on the 37-metre giant sequoia tomorrow as they prepare for the launch of annual light show Glow Wild.
Marking a milestone ten years, Glow Wild will light up Kew’s wild botanic garden in Haywards Heath with ten new installations and a myriad of hand-crafted lanterns.
This year’s theme invites visitors to reflect on the awe-inspiring moments in the natural world, from epic examples of wildlife to delicate details of plants and fungi.
In true Glow Wild tradition, over 1,000 lanterns have been handmade by volunteers and community groups, with the tenth anniversary mile- long trail also promising eight brand new bespoke installations from leading artists.
The trail will welcome guests on selected evenings from November 23 to January 1.
