A group of students made the most of flooding from Storm Ciaran by paddling a canoe across floodwater.
Three sports students at the University of Chichester grabbed a canoe and went rowing in the floodwater near the campus yesterday after the storm hit the county with heavy rain and strong winds.
Some of the students on board the “Mad River Canoe” were seen wearing life preservers in case they were unlucky enough to fall into the water.
Flooding blocked College Lane in Chichester, close to the university’s rugby pitch
The university posted on social media: “When life gives you lemons (rain), you make a lake.
“Some of our Chichester University sport students [made] the most of our brand new boating lake at the end of College Lane.”
Several roads across Sussex remain closed due to floodwater following yesterday’s storm, including a section of A29 in Bognor.
West Sussex County Council said their highways team was called out to over 160 emergencies due to the storm across the region and expect an increased number of issues over the coming days.
