A fan of the cleaning guru Mrs Hinch has called for help after finding fruit flies "everywhere" but members of one Facebook group have come to their aid.

If you've been spotting small flies or gnats flying about your kitchen, it's a very common household problem and you're not alone.

A problem all year around, fruit flies are attracted to ripened or fermenting fruits and vegetables but there is a simple and budget-friendly solution that many fans of the cleaning phenomenon Mrs Hinch swear by.

Mrs Hinch - otherwise known as Sophie Hinchcliffe - is well-known and beloved for sharing cleaning tips and tricks.

In fact,  she's inspired a whole community including a Facebook group called Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips where like-minded users ask and answer questions on everything from stubborn stains to useful products.

We have recently been sharing these tips including how to unblock your sink, how you can dry your clothes indoors without a dryer and how to get a streak-free shower to name just a few.

One of the most recent dilemmas involves a user asking for help with getting rid of fruit flies.

The group member asked the fellow cleaning fanatics: "Can anyone recommend how to get rid of fruit flies, they’re everywhere."

People took to the comments with all kinds of tips from changing the soil in your houseplants to Windex.

However, there was one suggestion that was recommended by multiple users and you might even have it in your cupboard already - Apple Cider vinegar.

The DIY solution is recommended by Bon Appétit, Good Housekeeping and Country Living with a popular method involving pouring the vinegar into a small bowl with a few drops of washing-up liquid.

If you're keen to try the method yourself. you can pick up Apple Cider Vinegar from major supermarkets like Tesco (from £1.30), Aldi (from £1.99) and Sainsbury's (for £1.85).

One user on the Facebook group recommended: "Apple cider vinigar and fairy liquid, works a treat, tried and tested."

A second person chimed in: " Apple cider vinegar in a pot they love it and go in it add a little water and dish soap x"

While a third added: " Ive tried apple cider vinegar and washing up liquid in a dish, cover with clingfilm, pierce small holes and it definitely works".
